Liverpool’s Transfer Targets Summary

Virgil Van Dijk

Age: 25 years old (08-07-1991)

Nationality: Netherlands

Position: Centre-back

Expected transfer fee: £50m

Transfermarkt value: £21.25m

What will he offer Liverpool?: Liverpool’s defence has been shaky at the best of times recently and clean sheets always evade The Reds and van Dijk could be the solution. He has an average pass accuracy of 84.6% and wins 4.6 aerial duels a game, more than Matip and Lovren. However I’m not sure he is worth the £50m Liverpool are predicted to spend.

Julian Brandt

Age: 20 years old (02-05-1996)

Nationality: German

Position: Attacking Midfielder (Left, Right)

Expected transfer fee: £25m

Transfermarkt value: £17.00m

What will he offer Liverpool?: Brandt has been one of Europe’s top prospects for a few years now, however this season he has faltered along with most of the Leverkusen side that has been so disappointing this year. This season he’s contributed to 9 goals, the same as Divock Origi, however in the previous season he contributed to 12 in the same amount of time in the Bundesliga. He would be a good signing, but the opportunity cost of this signing is Ben Woodburn’s first-team involvement or another player’s future at Anfield.

Naby Keita

Age: 22 years old (10-02-1995)

Nationality: Guinea

Position: Centre-Midfield

Expected transfer fee: £26m (release clause)

Transfermarkt value: £18.70m

What will he offer Liverpool?: Keita has proven himself one of the best midfielders in Europe this season. Keita has contributed to 16 goals from midfield this season. Keita shows better attacking stats than Adam Lallana and better defensive stats than Mousa Dembele – and nearly Kante. A player of the highest calibre, but a £26m release clause, Liverpool will have to ensure Champions League football if they have any chance of signing the starlet.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Age: 23 years old (August 08, 1993)

Nationality: English

Position: Centre-Midfield, Right Midfield, Right Winger

Expected transfer fee: £25m

Transfermarkt value: £17.00m

What will he offer Liverpool?: A quick, young England player who hasn’t lived up to his full potential since signing for Arsenal from Southampton, Oxlade-Chamberlain would add depth as well as potential to a Liverpool squad which has already secured European football for next season.

Ryan Sessegnon

Age: 16 years old (18-05-2000)

Nationality: English

Position: Left-Back

Expected transfer fee: £15m

Transfermarkt value: £2.55m

What will he offer Liverpool?: The brightest left-back prospect in English football, Sessegnon is a quick, attacking player who has an end product. A perfect example of a modern-day full-back, Sessegnon would be one for the future, but could be the first player in the Premier League to play being born this side of the millennia.

Sead Kolasinac

Age: 23 years old (20-06-1993)

Nationality: Bosnian

Position: Left-back, Left-midfield

Expected transfer fee: Free

Transfermarkt value: £7.65m

What will he offer Liverpool?: Kolasinac has been Schalke’s best player this season and could be the answer to Liverpool’s left-back issues. At 23, Liverpool could sign Kolasinac through the Bosman Ruling and he makes the same tackles and nearly three times as many interceptions as PFA Team of the Year player Danny Rose. Kolasinac would be a very smart buy for any team.

Quincy Promes

Age: 25 years old (04-01-1992)

Nationality: Netherlands

Position: Midfield (Left, Right) Attack (Left, Centre, Right)

Expected transfer fee: £25m

Transfermarkt value: £15.30m

What will he offer Liverpool?: 19 goal contributions in 21 games for Spartak Moscow this season, Promes is a very versatile player who would fit straight into Klopp’s fluid, goal-scoring system. What makes this move more likely is Promes’ friendship with Wijnaldum  ( both are of Surinamese descent) however a rejected approach in January may have soured the deal. Promes could he a hidden gem in one of Europe’s retirement league’s.

Thiago Maia

Age: 20 years old (23-03-1997)

Nationality: Brazilian

Position: Centre-midfield (defensive)

Expected transfer fee: N/A

Transfermarkt value: £2.55m

What will he offer Liverpool?: He is a bright prospect for the future however his introduction could mean the exit for Liverpool stalwart Lucas Leiva who has recently entered his 10th year with the club. Maia is a wanted by Europe’s top clubs and Liverpool will have persuade/justify the signing of him by getting in the Champions League. Should be noted that he is a very strong tackler.
